The mission of the Pediatric Unit is to provide for the medical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of all children and their families in a safe and nurturing environment. The Pediatric department provides family-centered care which invites parent participation and decision making in the care of their children.

Pediatric Unit

The Pediatric Unit at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, named after Red Rock Mountain in Las Vegas, is a 32-bed inpatient unit with specially trained nurses and pediatric hospitalists in house 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Pediatric Room

All of the rooms at Sunrise Children’s Hospital are private rooms and have individual amenities for the patient and their family. Each pediatric room has its own bathroom and shower, personal work station, sleeping accommodations for one parent, wireless Internet access, television and a gaming system.

Playroom

The playroom is a safe, stress-free place where children know they won’t face medical procedures. The playroom offers toys, arts and crafts, medical play and more for children of all ages. If a child is unable to attend activities with other children, activities will be provided at the bedside.

Special Visitors

At Sunrise Children’s Hospital we get many special visitors who come to the hospital to see the patients and brighten their day. These visits are often put together by the Child Life Department. Child Life Specialists in the Pediatric Unit help prepare children for medical treatments and procedures.

The Pediatric Unit employs a multidisciplinary staff specifically trained in the medical, emotional and developmental needs of children. The Pediatric Unit provides specialized equipment in a range of sizes and special technology and monitoring systems designed specifically for children. Our newly expanded Pediatric Unit boasts many amenities important in maintaining family dynamics. This includes a family kitchen, resource library for educational materials, a family conference room and a playroom. Each patient’s room features a built in day bed for family, a built in desk with internet capabilities, DVD player and plentiful storage area.
