Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect
The SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect) Team at Sunrise Children’s Hospital is a multi-disciplinary group of professionals specializing in identifying and evaluating suspected victims of child abuse. The team includes pediatric emergency room physicians, a child abuse physician specialist, nurses, pediatric social workers, child life specialists and members of the community from law enforcement, child protective services and the district attorney’s offices.
Sunrise Children’s Hospital is the only local facility that offers medical assessments to victims of physical abuse or acute victims of sexual abuse for children ages 0-17.
